When I first started MSIX, it was because of my own furry trio—Bim, Snow, and Grey. I wanted something more than just photos in my phone. I wanted pieces of them around me—little reminders of the warmth, the silliness, the constant love they give. That’s how everything began.
And then came a message from Emily.
She had just said goodbye to her cat, Ruby—a beautiful tabby with sharp green eyes and the calmest presence. “She wasn’t just a cat,” Emily wrote. “She was my morning coffee buddy, my evening blanket, and the quiet strength in between.”
She didn’t want anything loud. Nothing flashy.
She just wanted Ruby to stay a little longer.
So I sat down at my desk, placed Ruby’s photo in front of me, and began designing her memory frame. I chose warm wood tones, a gentle script for her name, and added a small fishbone—a quiet nod to the treats she loved.
On the bottom, I engraved the words that I believe every pet parent understands too well:
“Goodbyes are not forever.
Goodbyes are not the end.
They simply mean I’ll miss you.”
When Emily opened the box, she sent me a photo of the frame resting on her windowsill, right where Ruby used to sit. “Now, the sunlight still finds her,” she wrote.
